SIDELINE SCHOOL

Tough moments: private by default

The loss, the consoling arm, the walk back. This is the emotional spine of the season, and it stays in the family archive.

How to shoot it
  1. Step 1

Take the picture. Don’t share it.

The vault is private. Tough-moment photos never belong on a team gallery, a story, or a chat. Distance and a long lens (or just standing further back) keep their dignity. Faces into shoulders are often stronger than tears to camera.

  2. Step 2

The walk back is the frame

After the whistle, after the huddle, the walk to the car or the centre circle. Shoulders. A coach’s arm. A sibling waiting at the gate. You will be glad this exists in ten years, and glad nobody else saw it in the week it happened.
